The response to this storytelling experiment has been amazing!
The Twitter community has really embraced this idea, retweeting it hundreds of times and in many different languages too! Mainstream publications such as Entertainment Weekly, USA Today, Wall Street Journal, CNet.com, and more have also spread the news.
Of course, we're so excited to have the amazing, bestselling and award-winning Neil Gaiman kicking things off for us at Noon EST today. He gave us a sneak peek at his opening and it's fantastically imaginative and chilling. (Just like you'd expect from the author of Coraline and The Graveyard Book!)
Then it will be up to you! Remember that you can see all the submitted tweets by searching the hashtag #bbcawdio if you like, but we'll be retweeting the ones that push the story forward in new and interesting directions at @BBCAA. We'll try to shape a narrative out of all your creative ideas as quickly and spontaneously as possible. So bear with us! It will be messy and chaotic and maybe we'll go off in some crazy directions. But that's all part of the fun.
Once we're approaching 1000 lines retweeted, we'll cap things off. (Please keep in mind we are but human and may need to take some hiatuses in there!) But you can continue the story. Maybe there'll be sequels and trilogies? It's all up to you. Stay tuned to this blog because we'll summarize the story in progress as we go.
Thanks for joining us on this storytelling adventure!

<trackback:ping>http://www.bbcaudiobooksamerica.com/DesktopModules/DnnForge%20-%20NewsArticles/Tracking/Trackback.aspx?ArticleID=110&PortalID=0&TabID=58</trackback:ping>
Twitter an Audio Story with Neil Gaiman!

You can write an original audiobook story on Twitter with New York Times Bestselling Author Neil Gaiman!

That's when Radio City Music Hall will be presenting The Lord of the Rings: Fellowship of the Ring in Concert! A full orchestral performance of the score from the recent hit film, created by Howard Shore, will be perfectly synchronized to accompany a screening of the 178-minute movie. What more could a Ringer ask for?

A special sound mix of the movie is created that allows for dialogue and light sound effects to be heard but that showcases the orchestra's performance, which is carefully timed using a special color-coded software that signals the conductor to passage changes and tempo fluctuations in the score. Maestro Ludvig Wicki conducts Switzerland’s 21st Century Orchestra, the Collegiate Chorale and the Brooklyn Youth Chorus and additional vocals will be sung by Soprano Kaitlyn Lusk.
The fall weekend will include other LOTR-themed events as well, including CD and book signings with Shore and Doug Adams, author of The Music of the Lord of the Rings Films, and panel discussions with Tolkien linguist David Salo, who translated all choral lyrics for The Lord of the Rings scores, as well as illustrator/artist Colleen Doran. More events will be announced soon as well.
Sounds like an event any LOTR fan would go to the ends of Middle Earth for!

Baker is in the studio recording a new five-program series for BBC Audiobooks (look for them to be offered in our catalogue this coming January as a complete set). The Doctor Who: Hornets’ Nest series was penned by Paul Magrs and also stars Richard Franklin, Susan Jameson, and Rula Lenska.
Now 75 years old, Baker is the Doctor most Americans recognize and associate with the role, since his episodes were some of the first to be imported and aired here on PBS in the 1980s. Fans will surely welcome the return of this beloved actor to the Who-niverse!
