Geraldine McCaughrean
Geraldine McCaughrean was born in 1951 and has written over 130 books. She had an older brother called Neil. When she was young, everything he did, she wanted to do. So when, at 14 he had a book published, that became her great ambition. She was very shy and timid but was adverturous in her imagination, writing stories. Her dad was a fireman, Mum was a teacher. As a youngster she did not have a television so was very excited to get one at age 9. She started writing as a hobby, (while working regular jobs) never expecting to get published. Now she is able to stay home and just write, enjoying it immensely. She has a daughter, Alisa; a husband, John; and a Golden Retriever, Daisy.
