Megan is fifteen and pregnant. She didn't even realize it until she was five months along because she continued to have her period for the first several months. Now her options are limited. Reactions from family and friends are more hurtful than supportive as Megan stuggles to make the most difficult decision of her life. Walton is an excellent choice for reading this moving story. She has the voice of a tenn and is able to capture the isolation that Megan is experiencing as she copes with the mean, embarrassing taunts of the boys at her school. Walton's British accent helps establish the setting and explains the use of terms that are not common in the US, such as "nappies." Most teens will have no difficulty figuring out the equivalent terms in American English. Young people will be able to empathize with, as well as learn from, Megan's emotional and physical experiences as portrayed in Hooper's story.
