Brief History
BBC Audiobooks America started out as Curley Publishing, a publishers of large print books on Cape Cod in Massachusetts. Curly was in turn acquired by Chivers Publishing — making us Chivers North America — moving us to New Hampshire seacoast region and putting us in the audiobook business.
In August 2001, BBC Worldwide Ltd. acquired Chivers Press including Chivers North America, making us BBC Audiobooks America.
In April of 2007, BBC Audiobooks America acquired the audiobook publishing assets of Audio Partners Publishing Corporation, providing BBC Audiobooks America with more than 400 titles, including Pride and Prejudice, Brave New World and the 38-title boxed set of The Complete Arkangel Shakespeare. That acquisition also made BBC Audiobooks America the exclusive publisher of all unabridged Agatha Christie audiobook titles in the U.S. and Canada.
To accommodate our rapid growth and love of boating, our corporate offices are now located here on the shores of Narragansett Bay in Rhode Island, not all that far from where we started all those years ago back on Cape Cod.
