Q 3. What formats do you offer?
A. We sell unabridged audiobooks on CD, MP3CD and audiocassette.
The CD has surpassed the audiocassette in popularity. All new cars come standard
with these players. High quality discs hold approximately 74 minutes of digital
audio material. Not quite as much as audiocassettes and that is why the same
program on audiocassette may require more CD disks.
MP3CD is the newest kid on the block. This format requires a compatible player.
Some CD/DVD players may be able to read this format. The MP3CD can hold larger
amounts of audio material than a single CD or audiocassette, 9-12 hours worth.
Increased compression enables the capabilities of an MP3CD to hold up to 25
hours but this can result in a loss of quality and affect listening pleasure
in certain players.
An audiocassette, in the past, had been the most popular
format for use. Each single cassette can hold more than 100 minutes of programming,
typically the length is between 60-90 minutes to hold the best quality audio
sound.

Q 5. What’s the difference between
radio dramatization, abridged and unabridged audiobooks?
A. Dramatization is an adaptation of a work such as a book, recorded with
a full cast often including sound effects and music.
Abridged indicates that the original written works, after publication, have
been edited from the original text to shorten the content, minimizing its size
in one way or another.
Unabridged is the full unedited version of the original text. BBC Audiobooks
America creates unabridged audiobooks including dramatizations.
